 Athletic Facility Masterplanning Minimize

A committee comprised of coaches and directors, administration, board members, and a booster club representative met on June 3rd to begin a master planning process aimed at developing recommendations to address our outdoor athletic facility needs. FRK Architects have done a facility evaluation as a starting point and site visits are planned to area districts with newer facilities. We plan on posting meeting documents on our website, including the facility evaluation and meeting minutes (click here for Athletic Facility Masterplanning documents).   If you have any questions or feedback, please contact Greg Dufoe, superintendent, at 993-4283, or Reece Satre, activities director, at 993-4819.

2015 School Board Elections - 3 Positions Open for Election Minimize

The regular school election will be held on September 8, 2015. Three (3) ADM Community School District board positions are open for election this year.

Strong leadership in every school district is critical to moving education forward in this state. School board members play significant roles in their communities - members must have leadership, vision and dedication. School board members are locally elected public officials charged with accountability for student learning, determining educational goals, setting policy, overseeing school finances and other duties. Across Iowa, nearly 2,000 men and women serve on local school boards, guiding the education of more than 475,000 young people at an annual expenditure of more than $5.1 billion.

School board members are elected to serve four-year terms, with elections taking place in odd-numbered years. Those elected receive no pay. Experienced school board members say the rewards of service lie in meeting the needs of children and communities.

The filing period for school election candidates will begin on Monday, July 6 and end on Thursday, July 30 at 5 p.m. Nomination papers that have been accepted for filing must be delivered to the county auditor on Friday, July 31 by 5 p.m. The auditor cannot accept nomination papers earlier than July 31 because they are required to be available for public inspection at the school office during the filing period. ADM School Board candidates will need at least 50 signatures as school board candidates must obtain the signatures of at least one percent of the qualified electors of the district or 50 electors, whichever is less.

The school board secretary is the filing officer for candidate nomination papers in school elections, but the county auditor's office is available as a resource to help you if you have questions during this process.

Nomination papers for the ADM School District school board election can be obtained from Nancy Gee, Business Manager and Board Secretary, at 801 Nile Kinnick Drive South, Adel. She can also be reached at ngee@adm.k12.ia.us or 515-993-4283 extension 1040.

ADM High School Earns National Recognition Minimize

U.S. News & World Report released their annual high school rankings on May 12th, and ADM High School again received recognition as one of the best high schools in the state of Iowa and the nation.  ADM High School is ranked as the 13th best high school out of 340 high schools statewide, and is also ranked #2,095 out of 30,000 high schools nationwide.  ADM is one of only three smaller high schools to be ranked among the top 15.  ADM High School’s enrollment of 481 is the third smallest among this group; the average enrollment of schools in the top 15 is 1,433.

The U.S. News rankings are based upon a three-stage process.  In the first stage, researchers looked at student performance data on standardized assessments, while the second stage focuses on effectiveness in providing services for the student body.  The third stage focuses on college readiness, with particular emphasis on participation in and performance on Advanced Placement (AP) exams.  ADM High School has consistently performed well above state averages in each of these areas.

“I am so proud of the work that our teachers do to get students prepared for college and careers,” says high school principal Lee Griebel.  “The real work focuses on the students every day, in every class, but at times it is nice to see that the efforts of our staff have been noticed outside of ADM.”

ADM Teacher Leadership and Compensation Grant Approved for 2016-17 Minimize
On December 19, we received confirmation that the ADM Teacher Leadership and Compensation grant application was approved by the Department of Education for implementation in the 2016-17 school year. This means our ten-part application met the "cut score" for approval - our plan was deemed a quality one. Second, this means we will have additional time to plan for all the steps necessary to launch successfully. The ADM Planning Committee comprised of teachers, parents, and administrators did an excellent job of developing this "system" of teacher leadership to meet the needs of our district.

 ADM Outperforms International Peers Minimize

ADM was among six high schools selected to participate in an international test of science, math, and reading, the results of which were compared to peers in 65 nations.  The Iowa schools - including ADM, Pella, Ames, Cedar Rapids Washington, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, and Decorah - ranked 5th in reading, 5th in science, and 9th in reading out of 65 nations, and ranked well ahead of the U.S. average.
